Even when the problem cannot be fully treated during the first appointment, we will aim to diagnose the cause, reduce your discomfort and explain the next steps.
We understand that attending the dentist can be particularly difficult when you are already in pain or have had an upsetting experience in the past.
Please tell our reception team if you feel nervous about dental treatment. Our dentists take a calm and considerate approach and will:
Our immediate priority is to understand what is causing the problem and help you become more comfortable. You will not be pressured into treatment and will have an opportunity to ask questions before deciding how you wish to proceed.
Your dentist will ask about your symptoms, medical history and when the problem began, then carefully examine the affected tooth and surrounding area.
Dental X-rays may be taken if clinically necessary. Your dentist will explain the likely cause and whether urgent treatment is required.
You will be given a clear explanation of the available options, together with the likely benefits, limitations and costs.
Where appropriate and where time allows, treatment may be provided during the same visit. More complex treatment may need a separate appointment.
You do not have to be an existing patient at Bridge Street Dental to request a private emergency appointment. We welcome patients who:

Try to place the tooth back into its socket only if it goes back easily. If this is not possible, place it in a clean container of milk or saliva and bring it with you.
Do not attempt to replace a knocked-out baby tooth.
