We will ask you a few brief questions about your symptoms so that we can understand the urgency of your problem and arrange the most appropriate appointment.
You can also book an emergency appointment online at any time, day or night.
Although we cannot guarantee a same-day appointment, we keep availability for urgent dental problems wherever possible. Please book or call as early in the day as you can. Our telephones are not answered between 1pm and 2pm, when the practice is closed for lunch.

Any treatment required will be charged separately. Your dentist will explain what they have found, the available treatment options and the relevant costs before treatment is carried out.

Your dentist will ask about your symptoms, medical history and when the problem began, then carefully examine the affected tooth and surrounding area.

Dental X-rays may be taken if clinically necessary. Your dentist will explain the likely cause and whether urgent treatment is required.

Treatment options
You will be given a clear explanation of the available options, together with the likely benefits, limitations and costs.

Immediate care
Where appropriate and where time allows, treatment may be provided during the same visit. More complex treatment may need a separate appointment.
Emergency appointments for new and existing patients
You do not have to be an existing patient at Bridge Street Dental to request a private emergency appointment. We welcome patients who:
- Regularly attend Bridge Street Dental
- Attend a different dental practice
- Do not currently have a dentist
- Are visiting, living or working in the area
Following your emergency appointment, you can choose whether to return to your usual dentist or continue your care with us.
What should I do if an adult tooth has been knocked out?
A knocked-out adult tooth needs urgent attention. Contact a dentist immediately.
Hold the tooth by the visible white crown and avoid touching the root. If it is dirty, rinse it gently using milk, saline or saliva. Do not scrub it.
Try to place the tooth back into its socket only if it goes back easily. If this is not possible, place it in a clean container of milk or saliva and bring it with you.
Do not attempt to replace a knocked-out baby tooth.
When should I call 999 or attend A&E?
Most dental problems should be assessed by a dentist rather than a GP or hospital emergency department. Call 999 or attend A&E if you have:
- Serious injuries to your face, mouth or jaw
- Heavy bleeding that will not stop
- Swelling making it difficult to breathe, speak or swallow
- Swelling around your eye, eye pain or vision changes
- Loss of consciousness following an injury

be treated during the emergency appointment, while others may need to be stabilised
and completed at a later visit.

at a pace that is manageable for you.
Antibiotics are not required for every dental infection and do not always remove the
underlying cause. Your dentist will assess you and prescribe antibiotics only when
clinically appropriate. Treatment to address the source of the infection may also be required.
Yes. We can assess lost or broken fillings, crowns, bridges and veneers. Depending on
the condition of the tooth and restoration, we may repair or recement it, provide a
temporary solution or arrange replacement treatment.
